Catch it before it disappears!

I've recently discovered the magic that is Cabaret - or, more precisely, the magic that is Joel Grey. I was inspired, lieblings!

Title: Untitled
Subject: Joel Grey as the Emcee from Cabaret
Notes: If you haven't seen the film yet, you must. It's a film-noir/musical; how can you resist?
Link: http://pics.livejournal.com/givemethechild/pic/0006z7w1/

Title: Gluchlich zu Sehen!
Subject: Joel Grey (and kind of Alan Cumming*) as the Emcee - with a bow tie and a pimp cane!
Notes: To get the brushed-ink effect, I sketched the original in black Prismacolor marker, scanned it in color, and adjusted the hue to brown.
Link: http://pics.livejournal.com/givemethechild/pic/00070d6r/

Title: Wilkommen, Bienvenue, Welcome
Subject: The Emcee again.
Notes: Sketched this one with black Prismacolor marker, scanned it in on black & white, and touched up & added value in Photoshop.
Link: http://pics.livejournal.com/givemethechild/pic/00071d49/

Title: Wilkommen, Bienvenue, Welcome v.2
Subject: Guess
Notes: Couldn't decide between this and the other version. Isn't he pretty?
Link: http://pics.livejournal.com/givemethechild/pic/000722q0

Aaaaand we have some Hellsing art - all studies of outfits for Integra this time.

Title: Bandanna Halter Tops are Good for the Soul
Subject: Integra in extremely AU concert gear!
Notes: In no way do I actually believe that Integra would really and truly be caught (even dead) in one of these.
Link: http://pics.livejournal.com/givemethechild/pic/0006skb6/

Title: Yay for Underwear
Subject: ...or conservative swimsuits.
Notes: Your pick.
Link: http://pics.livejournal.com/givemethechild/pic/0006wag0/

Title: Sunday Morning Suit
Subject: Integra in her church clothes.
Notes: I like her shoes.
Link: http://pics.livejournal.com/givemethechild/pic/0006xfee/

* Let me note that I am a Grey fangirl. I don't like what Cumming did to the Emcee. Suspenders belong tidily under a coat with tails, thanks kindly. Plus, hey, Joel Grey could sing. ::kicks Alan Cumming, even if he did play Nightcrawler::

Almost all Hellsing today. I hope y'all had good holidays. I know I did.

Name: Toddler
Subject: My OC Iris as a toddler, still with purple hair.
Link: Ta-daa.
Notes: I actually did this sketch a long time ago, as part of a series. This was the best, so I revived it with some color.

Name: Dog DAys
Subject: Integra and a non-Alucard greyhound.
Link: Here.
Notes: It's been a really long time since I've done any pencil sketching. I scanned this in and colored it in Photoshop. Yum.

Name: Fighter
Subject: Lolita-esque Integra, very OOC in midriff-baring outfit.
Link: Check it out.
Notes: This was an experiment with costume design and color. The brushes in the background (the parrot and the fighting roosters) I made myself, though I didn't draw them - I scanned them out of an old design book from the '40s. Don't ask me what parrots and fighting roosters have to do with Integra. I don't know.*

Name: Legshow
Subject: Lotegra, showing leg.
Link: Click.
Notes: Really, this pic was just an excuse to draw legs.

*However, if I were to take a wild shot in the dark, I'd say that the parrot represents her intelligence and beauty, and the fighting cocks symbolize her ruthlessness in battle. Or whatever.

Hellsing art today, loves. It's been a while, but I had a sudden burst of creativity today. These I did when I should have been working on the novel (two thousand words to go and I've reached the 50K mark required for NaNoWriMo!). Hope you enjoy.

Name: Dungeon
Subject: Unbound!Alucard, young!Integra, and bloody Chinese characters in the background which probably read along the lines of "So long and thanks for all the French fries!"
Link: Click!
Notes: From the dungeon scene. Alucard's just woken up from his twenty-year nap, and Integra's about thirteen. (Hence the small hands.) Alucard's just slaughtered Richard and all his men. Alucard's just made his vow of servitude to Integra, and she is accepting it.

Name: Lavinia's Boys
Subject: Lavinia's OCs, Avery and Artemis, Integra's two sons.
Link: Click!
Notes: Beta version. But getting there.

Both of these are dedicated to Lavinia, who is having a Bad Day.

Found a few more that I haven't posted. All originals; sorry, dear Pottheads and Hellfans. But they're pretty girls, if that helps any.

Subject: Four girls: Three grinning, one laughing
Links: One, two, and three.
Notes: Very sketchy. I'm quite fond of the first one, though. Not so much of the last one - the poor girl looks rather unfortunately like Freddie Mercury. ::gasp::

Subject: Gothloli chick in black frame with cute little spiderwebs, swirls, and lopsided hearts.
Link: Click!
Notes: Okay, maybe she's not as gothloli as I'd like. I was going for a scratchy, sketchy, pen-and-ink look and I think I got it down. Done entirely with the tablet.

The artist drags herself over the jagged edge of the Pit of Despair and deposits a filthy manila envelope at your feet. Before passing out, she instructs you to open it and consider the few illustrations she's managed to complete during her gruelling servitude under the Iron Fist of Priorities. You take the envelope from her limp, grimy fingers and open it, carefully withdrawing a small bundle of digisketches. "Hmm," you say to yourself as you begin to flick through them, observing with a keen eye; "These aren't too bad. But say, can we get some hawt Alucard/Seras next time?"
The artist dribbles back down into the Pit, self-esteem thoroughly munched, and upwards drifts the faint sound of a half-hearted scribble of a stylus on a tablet.......

Yes, so school has drained me. But I have managed to bring you Gifts of Beauty! Hellsing fanart and a couple original pieces. And voila, the First Teaser for my up-and-coming comic, Qualia!

Subject: A very young and un-bespectacled Walter Dollneazz
Link: Click!
Notes: Tried to imitate the glowing style of Solid&Etc here. Don't think I pulled it off - young Walter looks a bit bruised.

Name: "Humans Will Always Top Vampires!"
Subject: Integra, Alucard, and Avery (Lavinia's OC - Integra's eldest son)
Link: Click!
Notes: Inspired by a scene of Lavinia's. (The quote is hers as well - XD) Many, many things wrong with this picture. But yay for wallpaper.

Name: The Red & the Black
Subject: Alucard & Integra
Link: Click!
Notes: Okay. I admit, Alu's nose is very big. But look at Integra! ::points and claps gleefully:: Oh, and the background was one of my first experiments with the miracle of BRUSHES.

Subject: Noon & Fevain - original characters
Link: Click!
Notes: This is a colored version of a very old picture. Noon underwent a thorough makeover but Fevain remains extremely Thin White Duke-ish. (Intentional.) I love the coloring on this one.

Name: Qualia - cover
Subject: cover of my up-and-coming comic, featuring Slim and Iris.
Link: Click!
Notes: I wrote the script for this comic over the summer but I've not even made a dent in the illustrating. Don't expect to see it online just yet. Until I get a real website up and going, I don't want to even try publishing it. However, when I do get it rolling, it will be released in serial format, probably in a page-per-week arrangement with which I shall never follow through.

That's it for now. I should post some character studies I'm doing for my joint comic with Dad. He's writing a Buckethead fanfic (BWAHA. this amuses me on soooooo many levels.) and I am going to scriptify and illustrate it. I have got some very nice designs for dust devils and suchlike but I haven't scanned anything in yet. Eventually!

Oh, and check out my NaNoWriMo profile if you're interested, dahlings!

Title: Untitled
Subject: Integra! And Alucard!
Comments: Uh-oh. More Integra in orange. This time she is far less formally attired, and probably somewhat cold. But she doesn't seem to mind! Bonus points if you can guess which team she's rooting for!

New art! I'm quite proud of this one. And WHAT DO YOU KNOW, PHOTOSHOP IS NOT MALFING ON ME ANYMORE! ::DANCES::

Name: "So, what's wrong with orange?"
Subject: Integra. Wearing orange.
Comments: Dedicated to Lavinia. INTEGRA SHOULD WEAR ORANGE, DARNIT! ::thwack::
Also, notice the strawberry!

Artdump! Sort of.

Mostly ink stuff today. All medium Bic-pen unless otherwise specified.

Name: Alex
Subject: Alex from Clockwork Orange.
Comment: This was a simple sketch on the back of a school assignment. Faux ink wash which involved a lot of finger-licking and scrubbing. My hands were a lovely shade of indigo when I was finished with this sketch. Given to Kyle, fellow Clockwork Orange afficiando.

Name: "Green is not your color, Alucard."
Subject: Integra and Alucard from Hellsing
Media: Tablet/Photoshop
Comment: Drawn in response to one of lavinialavender's theories about her OC Jonathon giving Integra scarves as gifts since she doesn't appreciate jewelry, poetry, or flowers (generally speaking). Of course Alucard would sneer - but only because he didn't think of it first. (He wouldn't, though. He thinks she covers her throat up too much as it is.)

And finally: I've started doing a series of chibicomics based on my family. They're simple ink sketches, but I'll try posting one or two a week (TENTATIVE). No cut - they're small.

Well, I have several new masterpieces for your visual delight. Sadly, my dear Potheads and Hellfans, these are all original characters. Hope you enjoy them anyway.

These were all drawn with my lovely new tablet (which I still need to name - any suggestions?) with Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0.

Name: Sygnus
Subject: An OC from a thing I was/am writing. He appears to be wearing a muffin on his head, but do not worry, it is actually a hat.
Comments: Nothing too special about this one. Except that he's wearing purple. He usually never wears purple. But the earthtones weren't working out, so you get new-and-improved-violet-clad-Sygnus.

Name: Neon
Subject: A pastel blonde with tangerine hair. No one in particular.
Comments: Experimentation with French grays and color. I tried to achieve that shining-skin effect that Solid & Etc do/does so well, but I don't seem to have achieved it just yet. Still: I shall keep trying.

Name: Breakfast at Iris', or A Vist From the Relative from Hell.
Subject: Dubious Iris and smirking Arawn. Who appears to have stolen Bono's shades.
Comments: Smoking is bad for you. I shall refrain from gushing about my own work.

ETA: RRRRGH. ::IS INCOMPARABLY FURIOUS.:: PHOTOBUCKET IS THE CENTER OF EVERYTHING EVIL IN THIS UNIVERSE. Every time I upload something mind-blowingly fantastic (</irony>), it SHRINKS IT. WHY?! ETA2: At least I finally recieved my subscription to Realms of Fantasy. I ordered the thing in like October, and they finally get around to sending it to me... I wonder if the other one will come in soon, too?
